Everyone loves to hear about "best practices." But sometimes you learn more from the times when it goes really, really wrong. Come hear about the "worst practices" in open source. This presentation will present true(*) stories of OSPOs that got it wrong. - Ever have a time when your shiny new acquisition came with both a copyright infringement lawsuit and accidental copyleft licensing of their entire codebase? - What about the time when your open source policies were so difficult to comply with that the entire team from a major open source project sponsored by your company left? - Or the time when you fought to control an open source project so hard that the entire project forked and rebranded just to get away from your company? - Or, smaller scale, how about the time when you hired the key developer for an open source project that you use internally... only to lose him because you no longer allowed him to contribute back to the project he maintained?
